IN OUR HOME, WE ESPECIALLY LOVE CHRISTMAS
It’s a time to connect and share aloha through new and timely traditions! To get in the festive spirit, here are some of our favorite traditions we recommend trying with your `Ohana or loved ones!
START DECORATING EARLY
Some out there may disagree, but I love Christmas so much that if I could have it my way, we’d start decorating for Christmas in OCTOBER! We recommend getting a head-start on decorating as early as your Christmas-dreams wish.
We split the decorating duties so the entire fam contributes to the finished results! Dad hangs the lights, I decorate the in/exterior of our home, and our sons help decorate the tree with ornaments and other eye-catching goodies.
We also suggest giving your Christmas a fresh vibe by adding NON-TRADITIONAL tones to the mix! This year my favorite colors to include are hot pink and teal (I told you, non-traditional!).
No decorating session is complete without a dance break! When we’re working on the tree, we love to jam along to “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “All I Want for Christmas is You”. I also added some Michael Buble’ and Kenny G Holiday albums into the playlist this year- and we are LOVING the mix!
When decorating is done, we celebrate with our boys’ favorite: build a pillow fort and dive into Christmas movie marathoning!

MORE OF OUR FAVES
NEW CHRISTMAS PAJAMAS
Any other mamas out there LOVE a good matching PJ family photo!?
Each year, we pick out a new set of Christmas-themed pajamas, put them on, have a Christmas-PJ-dance party, and end with snuggling up to a movie (or three)!
MMMMM HOT CHOCOLATE!
It’s our favorite winter drink to warm up with during these colder nights!
We love sticking to the “classics” in our hot cocoa! We enjoy using the individual packets (mini marshmallows? Yes please!) and hot water with a dash of milk!
CHRISTMAS MOVIE MARATHONS
Tis’ the season for Christmas movie marathons!
We prep with baking cookies, gathering all of our pillows and blankets on the hali’i (mat), and cuddling up together to enjoy the film.
Our favorites include “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas” (original animated version) and “Home Alone”. These titles tend to get put on repeat in our festive household.
and our final favorite tradition…

EXPRESS GRATITUDE
The “holiday spirit” wouldn’t be the same without expressing joy and gratitude!
Doesn’t matter if we’re decorating, dancing, watching movies, drinking cocoa, or resting. My husband and I make sure to reflect with our boys what it means to be GRATEFUL for what and who you have in life, and continue to be gifted.
While we love sharing our traditions, we also love learning about others’ special traditions too! Feel free to share in the comments some of YOUR favorite Christmas traditions!
Here’s to celebrating traditions, and creating new ones together! From our ‘Ohana to yours, we wish you a Mele Kalikimaka & Hau`oli Makahiki Hou!
